SOUITH PARIS – Richard D. Manseau, 72, formerly of Portland, passed away on Feb. 18, at the Maine Veterans Nursing Home.

He was born in Manchester, N.H. on Jan. 15, 1934, a son of the late Philip and Grace (Sandow) Manseau.

He was educated in the Manchester, N.H., school system. He lived most of his life in the Manchester area.

He served in the Korean and Vietnam wars with the Marines and Army National Guard. He retired from the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard after many years of service. He was a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends. He loved the outdoors and was an ardent Boston Bruins fan.

He is survived by his two stepsons, Glen Herbert and wife, Julie, of Cape Elizabeth and Russel Herbert of Thermopolis, Wyo.; his companion, Kristin, of Westbrook; his brothers, James Manseau of Manchester, N.H., Frederick Manseau of Ellington, Conn.; his sisters, Hazel Wells of Westborough, Mass., and Lois Davis of Hopkinton, Mass.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, his loving wife, and his siblings, Philip Manseau, Robert Manseau Sr. and Ruth Manseau, all formerly of Manchester, N.H.; and his wife, Simone T. (Valliere) in 1986 after 25 years of marriage.
