PARIS – TOPS ME87 of South Paris held a special program to honor its Keep Off Pounds Sensibly members on Feb. 7. The four each told why they chose to lose weight, why they chose Take Off Pounds Sensibly as a support group, and how they have been successful in keeping off the weight.

Joan Fillebrown has been a KOPS for 10 years; Sharon Goforth, eight years; Nancy Engdahl, four years; and Joan Damon, three years. Each was presented a yellow rose, a pin and a charm for each year they have been KOPS. All agreed that support helps them to maintain their weight losses.

TOPS is a world-wide organization with a mission to promote the health and welfare of its members through group stimulus aimed at the correction of excessive weight and the maintenance of proper weight. Weekly weigh-ins are confidential.

At roll call members declare whether they have lost or gained that week to the applause and encouragement of fellow members. The yearly membership fee is $24 and weekly dues are $1.

Keep Off Pounds Sensibly is the status that all members try to achieve by reaching their goal weight. They keep their status as long as they stay within the range of their goal weight.

The group meets on Tuesdays at VFW Post 9787 in South Paris. Weigh-in is from 5 to 5:45 p.m. and the meeting from 6 to 7. New members and visitors are welcome. An open house will be held on Tuesday, April 25. For more information about TOPS, call Mary at 743-6992.
