WEST PARIS – The local Trout Unlimited chapter will meet on Wednesday, March 15, at the River Restaurant, Route 26. The program will begin at 7 p.m.

Rod McGarry, board certified master casting instructor, Registered Maine Guide and life member of Trout Unlimited, will present the program, “Seven Successful Strategies for Stillwater Trout.”

He is a staff instructor at the L.L. Bean fly fishing schools and is on the water in excess of 100 days a year.

He said stillwater fly fishers face two challenges: to develop their basic skills and knowledge, such as casting, locating feeding trout, interpreting rise form behavior, and anticipating insect hatches; and keeping up with innovations and tackle.

McGarry’s seven strategies are crafty, some shrewd, some less orthodox and some already known, but not in use.
