I am very disappointed in the Sun Journal’s new secretive editorial policy. As a strong advocate of the First Amendment and the public’s right to know, the editorial board should be ashamed of itself. Editorials are opinions of individuals, even if it is a group of individuals. We, as readers of this publication, should be told who is expressing those opinions.

Letters to the editor must include a name. All information on the editorial page has, in the past, been signed.

The Sun Journal should practice what it preaches. Own up to the opinions. Really support the First Amendment.

Carl A. Seaward, Wilton

Editor’s note: The Sun Journal started adding writers’ bylines to editorials only five years ago. The decision to stop publishing author names is a return to a more traditional editorial policy that matches most other U.S. newspapers. The opinions expressed in the column are those of the editorial board.
