MANCHESTER, Vt. (AP) – The town has voted against a proposed wind farm on Little Equinox mountain.

Saturday’s vote was advisory only and intended to give the select board a sense of the community’s position on the project.

Residents also approved allowing the select board to spend $150,000 to oppose the project.

Endless Energy Corp. of Yarmouth, Maine has proposed building five 130-feet wind turbines on Little Equinox Mountain. The windmills would generate electricity that would be sold in Burlington.

The company has not yet filed for state approval.

The Public Service Board has the final say about the project.
