LEWISTON – Several area students were named to the dean’s list at Bates College as a result of their scholastic standings during the first semester of the academic year.

Emily Biliouris, a junior, is the daughter of William and Susan Biliouris of Livermore. She is a 2003 graduate of Livermore Falls High School.

Amanda Galban, a first-year student, is the daughter of Hugo Galban of Lewiston and Susan Galban of LaGrange, Ga. She is a 2005 graduate of LaGrange Academy.

Hannah Giasson, a first-year student, is the daughter of Katherine Giasson of Auburn. She is a 2005 graduate of Edward Little High School.

Cassandra Kirkland, a sophomore mathematics major, is the daughter of Allan Kirkland and Kathryn Grefer-Kirkland of Greene. She is a 2004 graduate of Leavitt Area High School.

Timothy Maurice, a junior music major, is the son of William and Linda Maurice of Oxford. He is a 2003 graduate of Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School.

Tyler Schoen, a first-year student, is the son of John and Patricia Schoen of Wilton. He is a 2005 graduate of Mt. Blue High School in Farmington.

Hillary Smith, a senior biology major, is the daughter of Alden and Diane Smith of Farmington. She spent the fall of 2004 studying at the National University of Ireland, Galway, and the winter of 2005 in Zanzibar, Tanzania, through the School for International Training. She is a 2002 graduate of Mt. Blue High School.

Jessie Smith, a first-year student, is the daughter of Alden and Diane Smith of Farmington. She is a 2005 graduate of Mt. Blue High School.

To qualify for the dean’s list, a student must maintain a better than B+ average for the semester, for a minimum quality point ratio of 3.65.
