How many more of our young men and women must die in a war that will never be won? Mr. Bush, what is the meaning of winning the war in Iraq? When 58,000 more American soldiers are dead?
Mr. Bush, Iraq did not have weapons of mass destruction. You were wrong but we still supported you, but we do not support you any longer.
Mr. Bush, we just lost another Maine soldier from Appleton. Will you put your children or any more of our brave troops in harm’s way to see them come back in body bags for a cause that will have no conclusion in our time?
Mr. Bush, I served in Vietnam for 30 months (same situation). You’re damned if you do and you’re damned if you don’t! President Johnson was in the same place you are right now.
He was a stubborn Texan and you are too. I disliked Nixon and his political mischief, but I respect the fact that he listened to Americans when they said, “Enough is enough” to the Vietnam War.
Be a man and a leader, step up to the plate, tell your people what they want to hear.
I ask my friend, Congressman Mike Michaud, and Tom Allen, Sen. Susan Collins, and our state’s pride, Sen. Olympia Snowe, to introduce legislation to get us out of this no-win situation as soon as possible before another Maine kid comes home in a body bag.
I beg your readers to respond.
