William Mayo, shown here with Day Surgery Nurse Kim Akers, had a muffin before preparing to go home from the Rumford Hospital Day Surgery unit. The surgery was expanded from three to six beds, and a new accessible toilet was added, enhancing patient privacy. An open house for the new unit and a new digital X-ray room will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, March 21.
