Field trip

LEWISTON – The Stanton Bird club is planning a field trip for Saturday, March 11, to Reid State. Members hope to see many species of wintering ducks and geese as well as some uncommon sea birds. The group will car pool from the Promenade Mall parking lot in front of Staples, leaving at 8 a.m. and returning around noon. Participants should bring binoculars if they can.

Stanton Bird Club field trips are free and nonmembers are welcome. For more information, contact trip leader Dan Marquis at 784-8397.

AUBURN – The Auburn-Lewiston Art and Literature Club will meet at 2 p.m. Monday, March 13, at the Woman’s Literary Union, 19 Elm St.

Claude Bonang will speak on “Unique and Unusual Music.” He is a retired high school teacher who became involved with music following retirement. He plays the guitar, musical saw, bones, spoons and harmonica.

For several years, Bonang has performed at respite care and assisted living facilities, college reunions and fairs. He resides in Brunswick with his wife, Ann.

Hostess Marguerite Powers will be assisted by Shirley Small and Claire Roger-Anctil.

Election set

MECHANIC FALLS – The Mechanic Falls Masonic Holding Corp. will hold a continuation of its annual meeting at 7 p.m. Monday, March 13, at the Masonic Temple, Route 11.

All officers and directors are urged to attend as well as members of Tyrian Lodge, St. Andrews Chapter and Dwinal Chapter, OES. The agenda includes revision of the bylaws of the corporation and the election of directors.

Society program

MINOT – The Minot Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 14, at the Town Office. David and Hester Gilpatric will present a slide program on “A Visit to Finland.” Everyone is invited. Refreshments will follow the meeting.
