• A vehicle owned by a Jay firefighter hit a Jay firetruck when the department responded to a house fire on Route 2 on Feb. 22 in Dixfield. Bruce Davis, 57, Morse Hill Road, Jay, was attempting to turn left with his 2005 Subaru Baja between two stopped tractor-trailer trucks in response to a request to shut down traffic on the highway. He collided with a 1989 Ford tanker truck driven by George E. Black, 65, of Keep Road, Jay. Neither man was injured; however, Davis’ vehicle sustained $750 damage. Dixfield Police Chief Richard Pickett estimated damage to the firetruck at $2,000.
