WATERFORD – Waterford Grange 479 will hold a joint meeting with Bear Mountain Grange on Monday, March 13, at the Waterford Congregational Church beginning with a potluck supper at 6:30 p.m.

The Maine State Grange Cooking Contest to be held that evening and date square recipes have been given out. Essay contest participants need to bring their essays to be judged that evening. Cash prizes will be awarded to Waterford Grange 479 members participating in cooking and essay contests. There will also be door prizes.

Waterford Grange 479 met Feb. 13 at the home of Marjorie Kimball with 16 members attending. The evening began with a potluck valentine dinner followed by a short meeting. Grange goals were discussed, emphasizing community service programs and member participation.

Master Linda Hooker presented the new newsletter, “Voices of the Grange,” pointing out highlights for the upcoming year. Wayne Lorrain sang Valentine Day songs and gave the history of the Necco Candy Co. Mystery march winners were Viola McAllister, Marge Nighan and Wayne Lorrain. Marge Kimball won the door prize and Bob Laguex won the 50/50.
