NORWAY – Mary Ethelyn Powers Jackson, 89, of Norway, died Tuesday, March 7, at Stephens Memorial Hospital.

She was born on Dec. 13, 1916, the daughter of George Merritt Turner and Ethel Sullivan Buck. She grew up in Buckfield and married Wilfred “Bill” Powers on Sept. 5, 1932 and they had two sons, George Edward Powers and Richard Alden Powers.

She lived in Canton most of her adult life and enjoyed spending summers at her camp at Rangeley Lake. Wilfred Powers died May 30, 1978, and she later married Philip Jackson on April 24, 1982, and together they traveled around the United States.

She is survived by her son, George Edward Powers and his wife, Rita Powers; two grandsons, Gary Edward Powers and Dale Allen Powers; two great-grandchildren, Gary Michael Goodman and Krystal L. Powers; her nephew, Kenneth Arnold Turner; her aunt, Geneva Archambault; and many cousins and friends.

She was predeceased by her brother, George Kenneth Turner in 1966; her son, Richard in 1986; her husband, Philip Jackson in 1995; and her nephew, Cameron Turner in 2005.
