FARMINGTON – The SAD 9 Music Department invites the community to the March concerts for area elementary, middle and high school students.

The concerts are celebrations of the Music Educators National Conference “Music in Our Schools” Month. Music students from the following schools will participate in the concerts: Academy Hill School, Cape Cod Hill School, Cascade Brook School, Weld School, Mt. Blue Middle School and Mt. Blue High School.

The SAD 9 choral students in grade five to 12 will perform in the districtwide Chorus Festival to be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 16, in the Mt. Blue High School gym. Choral musicians are directed by Jane Parker, Andy Buckland, Jim Perkins and Carol Shumway. Choral accompanist is Patricia Hayden.

The district string students will present the Orchestra Celebration at 7 p.m. Monday, March 20, in Mt. Blue High School gym. The concert will include string orchestra students in grades four to 12 under the direction of Nancy Beacham and Steve Muise.

Concluding the concert series will be a Band-a-Rama at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 23, at Mt. Blue High School. Instrumental band students in grades five to 12 will be directed by Karen Beacham and Darryl Pike with assistance by Anne Geller.

Following each concert the Mt. Blue Music Boosters will sell ice cream in the school’s cafeteria. All concerts are free and the public is welcome.
