FORT MYERS, Fla. – Richard J. Bohnson Sr., 87, of Ft. Myers, Fla., passed away on March 7, at Hope Hospice.

He was born on July 7, 1918, in Portland, to John C and Ethel (Walton) Bohnson. He was a graduate of Harvard Dental School and he served his country, post-college, in the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Marine Corps, in the South Pacific during World War II. He retired from his private dental practice in 1991. He moved to Ft. Myers 12 years ago from Cape Elizabeth.

Survivors include his loving companion of 12 years, Elizabeth Sayles and her two daughters, Sue Beirn and Betty Ann Sullivan; his four children, Richard Jr. (Carol) Bohnson of Windham, Minn., Paul (Siobhan) West Boylston, Mass., “Chris” Ethel (Michael) Cook of Farmington, Minn., and Ann (Robert) Yorks Coopers Mills.

He was predeceased by his wife, Margaret; and his two siblings, Priscilla Roberts and John Bohnson.
