LEWISTON – Novelist and short-story writer Monica Wood will speak at the Great Falls Forum on Thursday about living a creative life.

She will present “How to Live a Creative Life: A Reading and Talk” during the luncheon scheduled for 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Marsden Hartley Cultural Center in the Lewiston Public Library.

Wood, born in Mexico, Maine, is a former guidance counselor. She began her writing career as a short-story writer in her late 20s.

Her stories have been included in a number of anthologies. She is also the author of several books for writers and teachers and has written four novels: “Any Bitter Thing,” “Ernie’s Ark,” “My Only Story” and “Secret Language.”

“Any Bitter Thing” was a top-10 finalist for “Best Spiritual Book of the Year” at www.beliefnet.com.

Wood has also just completed the second version of “The Pocket Muse,” a Writer’s Digest publication, which should appear on bookshelves this September. She also teaches and frequently lectures on her craft.

Lunch at the forum is $7 with preregistration, $10 at the door, if space is still available. Please make lunch reservations by calling Jeanne Lachance at (207) 689-2843 on or before Tuesday, March 14.

The Great Falls Forum is a monthly public platform for thought-provoking speakers and discussion. Everyone is welcome. No dues; no obligations. A question-and-answer period follows each talk. Wood will sign copies of her novel, “Any Bitter Thing,” following the talk.
