JAY – Residents have only one contested race to decide during elections next month. Absentee ballots will be available on Friday, March 24.
Candidates Stephen McCourt and Joe Diaz will face off for a three-year selectman’s term currently held by Selectman Alan Labbe during the all-day referendum Monday, April 24, in the Community Building.
Running for uncontested positions are Amy Pineau, daughter of Selectman Ray Pineau, who wants to succeed her father to a three-year post; incumbent School Committee member Tammy Dwinal-Shufelt is running for a three-year term on the school panel; and Nancy Chaney is running for a one-year School Committee seat.
In water district races, incumbent Richard Ring is unchallenged for a three-year trustee term on the North Jay Water District, and no one took out papers for a three-year trustee term on the Jay Village Water District.
