Rotary speaker

LEWISTON – Lewiston-Auburn Rotary Club will meet at noon Thursday, March 16, at the Ramada Inn. Members will hear a presentation by Chris Cameron, media relations director for the Sea Dogs.

A graduate of Southern New Hampshire University with a degree in sports management, Cameron has received numerous awards in his field. He began his career as an intern for the Detroit Tigers spring training camp in 1998 and has been working with the Sea Dogs since graduating from college in 1999.

Club slide show

AUBURN – The Garden Club of the Woman’s Literary Union will meet at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 16, at the clubhouse, 19 Elm St. A slide presentation of “Gardens of Europe” will be shown by Barbara Randall. Lois Rousseau is in charge of hospitality and guests are welcome.

Grange forum

LITCHFIELD – Litchfield Grange 127 will host the third of a series of community forums at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 17. The topic will be “Funeral Planning.” It will focus on understanding the services of the funeral director and making good consumer decisions.

Light refreshments will be provided at the close of the presentation by Victor Tessari of Staples Funeral Home. Topic ideas are invited for the forums.

Seniors meeting

LEWISTON – The Holy Cross Seniors will meet at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 19, at the parish hall.

Speaker will be Raymond Masse, a past grand knight who served in that position for several years, who will present the history of the Knights of Columbus, as well as its purpose of helping the church and community.

A social time and a light lunch will follow. All area seniors are invited.

St. Pat’s potluck

LEWISTON – A St. Patrick’s Day potluck meal will be held at noon Sunday, March 26, at Good News Chapel, 2151 Lisbon Road.

The event, which falls during the Christian season of Lent, will be celebrated with music and feasting. The meal will follow the Sunday morning family worship service at 10 a.m. Everyone is invited to attend and bring their favorite Irish dish.

Cabin Fever Day

HEBRON – Cabin Fever Day will be held at the Hebron Community Baptist Church from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, March 25.

There will be a food sale featuring baked beans and rolls to take out as well as other goodies. There will be an indoor yard sale for which a table can be rented for $10 to sell those items that surface in spring cleaning. In addition there will be raffles and for the children a fish pond.

The set-up for the sale will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 24, and 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday, March 25. For details or to reserve a table, call Judy Chase at 966-2042.

VFW to elect

AUBURN – First nominations were held at VFW Post 1603 recently, with final nominations and election to be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 12, for the VFW year.

Other items on the agenda will be plans for Buddy Poppy Days May 27 and 28; electing delegates to the District 9 Convention April 3 at the Jay VFW Post 3335; Loyalty Day ceremonies at the district convention; a membership drive at the Auburn Mall on April 15; and flagging graves and Memorial Day parade.

Bridge winners

LEWISTON – The Lewiston-Auburn Social Bridge Club winners of the ACBL charity game at the Multi-Purpose Center on March 13 were: first, Marta Clements and Nancy Farmer; second, Luke Merry and Les Buzzell; third, Dick Allen and Pete Cummings; fourth, second in B, first in C, Marlene and Conrad Violette; fifth, Martine Begert and Mary Leahey; third in B, second in C, Jeanne Plourde and Charles Bartlett.

Games are played at 9 a.m. Mondays, a mini-lesson is given, and a partner is guaranteed. Call Rosemarie Goodwin at 783-1734 for more information.

Registrations for the intermediate bridge course are being accepted at the Lewiston Adult Education office, 795-4141. Classes will begin on Monday, March 27.
