MEXICO – Oxford Federal Credit Union members’ year-long contributions to the Maine Credit Union League’s Ending Hunger in Maine campaign have made it possible for local food pantries to reap the benefits.

Credit union members made their donations through purchases of Peterboro baskets, seasonal candles, air fresheners, cookbooks and Pirates and Sea Dogs tickets.

Due to the collective efforts of Maine Credit Union staff, volunteers and members, the campaign surpassed its goal and raised $251,328.56 to help end hunger in Maine. Seventy-one credit unions participated in the campaign.

Oxford Federal Credit Union received 80 percent of its funds back from the league to donate to local organizations. During the week of March 1, $1,000 was donated to the GRAMPA Food Pantry at the Green Church in Mexico, the Oxford Hills Food Pantry in Norway and the St. Athanasius and St. John’s Food Pantry in Rumford.
