LEWISTON – Darlene Grimaldi, 55, a resident of Marcello Street in Jay, died Monday, March 13, at Central Maine Medical Center.

She was born on Dec. 12, 1950, in Farmington, the daughter of Antonio and Annie (Carter) Grimaldi. She was a 1969 graduate of Jay High School. She owned and operated Grimaldi’s Clothing Store in Jay, and also worked as a waitress at the Chuck Wagon Restaurant in Livermore Falls.

In her spare time she enjoyed crocheting, creating stained glass and ceramics and decorating her home for the holidays. She always looked forward to attending the Windjammer Festival in Boothbay Harbor. She especially loved to throw a good party.

She is survived by her daughter, Demitria Nelson of Providence, R.I.; two brothers and their wives, Marco and Nancy Grimaldi of Jay and Gino and Anita Grimaldi of Ashland Ore.; nieces, Karyn Grimaldi of New York, N.Y., Beth Grimaldi of Biddeford and Alyssa Grimaldi of Ashland, Ore.; nephews, Michael Grimaldi of Jay, Alex Grimaldi and Brendan Grimaldi, both of Ashland, Ore.; many aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was predeceased by her father on Dec. 2, 1985; and her mother on April 20, 1995.
