HEBRON – Residents will be asked to consider how much they want to pay their three selectmen and whether to raise and appropriate $74,730 for the town officer expense account, an increase from last year, at the annual town meeting this weekend.

The meeting begins at 10 a.m. at the Hebron Station School on Station Road. Voters will consider a total of 53 articles on the warrant.

Last year, $64,000 was raised for the town officer expense account and slightly more than $72,000 was spent.

Richard Deans, chairman of the Board of Selectmen, is paid $9,500, while the two other board members get $5,000. Article 6 on the warrant asks voters to consider salaries for the board but does not make a recommendation.

Residents also will be asked to vote on raising and appropriating $15,000 to be placed in a reserve account for a revaluation. The last revaluation was done in 1994.

Other large items to be voted on include raising and appropriating $111,200 for the care and maintenance of winter roads, $67,000 to run the transfer station, and $37,000 to support the municipal Fire Department.

Last year, the town raised $95,000 and spent $115,829.70 for winter roads. A sum of $65,000 was raised to run the transfer station and $66,744.51 was spent, while $29,671.86 was spent to support the Fire Department.

Residents also will choose a budget committee of five to serve without pay for one year and vote whether to borrow slightly more than $122,000 to purchase a new pumper/tanker firetruck. The truck will cost $150,000, and $27,918.75 from the fire truck reserve account will be applied toward that total cost.
