AUBURN – Elsie E. Mitchell, 83, of Auburn went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, March 15, with her family by her side at the Odd Fellows Home where she had resided for 3 years.

She was born in Mount Vernon on May 19, 1922, the daughter of Albert and Lillian (Thompson) Gordon.

She enjoyed her time as a volunteer at a local hospital.

She also taught Sunday school and was a prayer warrior for the church. However, her all-time favorite was spending time with her family and grandkids.

She was a wonderful person who will be sadly missed by her family and everyone who knew her.

She is survived by a sister, Florence Francis of Connecticut; brother, Eddy Gordon Madison; five grandchildren, Christine and her husband, Norman Polley, of West Gardiner, Barbara Coburn of Wiscasset, Judy and her husband, Charles Farnum, of Lisbon Falls, James and his wife, Lois Ward, of Sabattus, Suzanne Culleton of Greene; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband James on March 20, 1982; daughter, Carolyn Morgan; grandchildren, Randy Ward, Laura and Stephen Polley; brother, Stanley Gordon; a sister, Bertha Scielinzski; son-in-laws, Clayton Coburn and Randy Culleton.
