According to the American Obesity Association, 300,000 people die each year from obesity. As a teenager, I think everyone should address this problem. I think being obese or overweight is bad for your health and that it affects everything you do. More and more teenagers are becoming overweight. More than 15 percent of the children of the U. S. are overweight (about 9 million children).
My opinion is that I think that children today don’t exercise enough each day and instead they stay all day inside either watching television or playing video games. Also children aren’t eating the right foods they need. Teenagers and children are eating way too much junk food, like chips, soda, candy and ice cream. They should be eating the right foods from the five food groups.
I think that advertisements have a lot to do with obesity. Everywhere you go, all you see are food advertisements. On the road when an average person sees a sign that advertises fast food, people are more tempted to eat at the nearest fast food restaurant like McDonald’s, Burger King or Wendy’s. Every time someone eats, they should think how much food they should consume and if it’s healthy.
