I think the Ingersoll Arena in Auburn should be improved. The Colisee is great, but the Auburn arena … well, let’s say, the Auburn arena is not. I know that the Colisee has to be better for the Maineiacs. We in Auburn have to support two high school teams, Edward Little and Leavitt. There is also a learn-to-skate program and other hockey leagues. We have cold seats and nasty bathrooms. When away teams come to the arena they say, “Oh, man, we have to go to the cold arena.”
One of the biggest issues is the cold. The Colisee is nice and warm, but the Ingersoll Arena is freezing. There are four-year-olds freezing when they’re on the ice for the learn-to-skate program. The Edward Little hockey team deserves a nicer place to skate. Todd Nadeau, the coach of the peewee hockey league, says that there is a need for larger locker rooms. I also interviewed an arena employee and he said that if he won the lottery, he would make the arena bigger.
Here in Auburn we like to have civic pride. So, let’s make the arena better, for not just the hockey players, but for our city.
