The spreading of sexually transmitted diseases is becoming a major problem in the United States. According to Web sources, more than half off all people will have an STD in their life. This is due to false information and not being aware of STDs. People spread false information through television and conversation. If people knew the correct information, they would be practicing safer sex and would know the symptoms of STDs.
Billions of dollars are spent on diagnosing and treating STDs each year. If more of this money was spent on sexual education in schools and other similar classes people would know the risks of STDs. People need to know if they have a STD and how to tell if they do. Exposure to STDs would be less if young people had correct information. Some diseases are more serious and you can die from them, like AIDS. The ones that are less serious can be treated and go away after a short period of time.
I think parents should take a more active role in making sure their kids know the risks of STDs, but some parents need to find the correct information too. Parents need to find a way they can talk to their kids about such a serious matter. This would make the children more likely to talk to their parents in the future if they have any problems with STDs and sex.
