DURHAM – Barbara Bernice Brown, 64, died March 18, at her home on Shiloh Road, surrounded by her loving family after a courageous 3-year battle with cancer.
She was born on April 26, 1941, in Lewiston, the daughter of Norman and Josephine Bulick. She graduated from Lisbon High School, Class of 1959.
She was married June 30, 1959, to Gene Brown, and they had 46 wonderful years together.
She worked at Worumbo Mill, Eastland Shoe, Maine Electronics Rockwell and LL Bean. She finally realized her childhood dream of raising horses when she started her own stables in 1977, raising registered Morgan horses. Her pride and joy was Betsy, her Morgan mare. Even her license plate said BETSY. She boarded and trained horses until her retirement in 2000.
She leaves behind and will be greatly missed by her husband, Gene; her daughters, Tammy Bosse of New Gloucester, Jamie Brown and companion, Allen St. Amour, of Topsham, and Vicky Brown and companion, Norman St. Pierre, of Hartford; grandchildren, Lisa Bowe and husband, Tim, of Lisbon Falls, Adeena Bosse of New Gloucester, Chelsey St. Amour and Dylan St. Amour of Topsham, and Daja Brown and Shane St. Pierre of Hartford; her father, Norman, and mother, Josephine Bulick, of Lisbon Falls; and sister, Madelyn Herles of California; and many extended family members and friends.
