NORRIDGEWOCK- Game wardens and the state police are investigating a fatal incident involving minors in Norridgewock.

Officials wouldn’t say Sunday how many youths were involved, their ages or hometowns, or how the fatality happened.

“They were hunting,” said Mark Latti, a spokesman for the state Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, “but that’s about all I can say right now.”

The incident happened at about 3:30 Sunday afternoon.

Maine doesn’t legally allow hunting on Sundays.

Hunting seasons for most species of game are closed now.

Exceptions include crow, which can be hunted by people with migratory bird stamps, and snowshoe hare or rabbit, which can be hunted through the end of March.

Maine also offers an open season – except on Sundays – for coyote, woodcock, porcupine and red squirrels.

He said wardens under the supervision of Lt. Pat Dorian as well as state police investigators are handling the case and were expected to continue their investigation today.
