DANBURY, Conn. (AP) – A tour bus carrying the country-western band Leahy collided with a wrong-way driver early Saturday morning on Interstate 84 near Danbury.
The driver of the wrong-way car – a 21-year-old New York woman – was killed. The eight-member family band from Canada is a warm-up act for singer Shania Twain and had just performed at West Point. The group was headed west for a booking in New Bedford, Mass.
Police said the car driven by Jeri DeFabbia, of Hopewell Junction, N.Y., was traveling west in the eastbound lane when the accident occurred around 1:30 a.m.
The accident remains under investigation.
