Elks supper

RUMFORD – The Rumford Lodge of Elks 862 will have a spaghetti and meatball/sausage supper from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Saturday, March 25, at the lodge. The cost is $6 for adults and $3 for children under 12.

There will be a dance for adults only and the cost is $2 a person. The music will be provided by Partytime DJs, David and Debi Briggs. All proceeds will go to Elliott and Friends, which is affiliated with the Maine Children’s Cancer Program. Donations will be accepted.

Coffeehouse

DIXFIELD – The Dixfield Coffeehouse, Dixfield Congregational Church Annex, High Street, will present Derek Blodgett at 7 p.m. Saturday, March 25. Doors will open at 6:30. Cost is $5 a person and children under 12 are free.

Blodgett was born and raised in Dixfield and now makes his home with his family in Peru. He was a member of the band “Close to Toast” in the 1970s and early 1980s. More recently he has begun performing as a soloist at parties, weddings and other functions.

There will be homemade desserts available for sale as well as gourmet coffees, tea and soda. For more information, call 562-8575.

Benefit sock hop

RUMFORD – A benefit sock hop dance will be held for Pam Cox Fleury from 8 p.m. to midnight Saturday, March 25, at the Eagles Hall, Rumford Avenue. Music will be provided by Tim Kelly.

There will be a Chinese auction and a 50/50 raffle. Tickets are on sale at Holmes Market in Dixfield, T.W. Kelly Middle School and Peru School. Tickets also will be on sale at the door. Cost is $5 a person.

Proceeds will help defray medical expenses. For more information or anyone who has an item to donate may contact Cathy Richards at 562-4650. Donations may also be made to Friends of Pam Fleury at the Oxford Federal Credit Union in Mexico.

Seniors to elect

RUMFORD – The Rumford Senior Citizens will meet at 12:30 p.m. Monday, March 27, at the Senior Center on Congress Street. It is time to elect new officers and board members.

Suggestions for new events and trips will be accepted. There are only a few seats still available for the sugar trip and Hollywood Slots. The windjammer trip is still open, the clambake is filling up and other trips will be scheduled soon.

Candidates night

GREENWOOD – The Oxford County Republican Candidates Night will be held on Saturday, May 13, at the Locke Mills Legion Hall. A 5:30 p.m. social hour will be followed by a chicken pie banquet at 6:30.

A Master of Ceremonies will introduce the candidates who will speak. A silent auction will be held. The committee is George Hooper, Joan Putman and Evelyn Beane. All interested persons are invited. The price is $18.
