Formed in October 2004, from the remnants of former local acts, Sparks The Rescue has rapidly gained recognition across New England as one of Maine’s most exciting up-and-coming bands. Don’t let any prior impressions fool you, Sparks The Rescue has grown drastically since their involvement in earlier groups like Pozer, Haven’t Talked Since, Two Girls Later and Short of April. Despite having an average age of only 19, the six members of Sparks have matured musically, creating their own distinct style and establishing a constantly growing fan base.

Although there is a label for any song style, the guys in Sparks claim to cross the genres of rock & roll, hardcore and screamo. The comparison to such popular national acts as Underoath, Emery and Anberlin certainly isn’t ungrounded, as these dedicated USM college students don’t rely merely upon musical talent. On a local scale, their heart-pounding live performance is unmatched and never fails to fill the dance floor. The boys from Gorham are continually appearing on Purevolume’s Top Ten Unsigned Artists list, receive over two hundred plays a day and released their first album “Stumbling Skyward” in the spring of 2005. Following their headlining Getting Clean Getting Dirty Tour with their friends Radiation Year and Jules Verne, the boys plan to expand their horizons on a two-week tour from here to the deep south. If Sparks The Rescue’s two latest songs and upcoming tours are any indication, fans both new and old won’t be disappointed by what the future holds in store.
