GRAY – The University of Maine Cooperative Extension will conduct a farm tractor safety course on five consecutive Tuesday evenings starting April 25 at the Maine Forest Service Building, Route 26.

The revised course has a new manual. Participants’ driving skills and knowledge will be tested using a national test developed by Pennsylvania State University.

“Many of the accidents on farms involve tractors and farm machinery,” said Richard Brzozowski, Cumberland County Extension office. “Every farm worker needs to develop good skills and a good safety attitude. This course helps them do just that.”

Individuals will receive practical training in the classroom, in the shop and on tractors. Participants should be at least age 13 to receive credit for the certified course.

More information is available from the Extension Office at 1-800-287-1471. Registration is required and space is limited to 25 participants.
