AUBURN – Doris Stanley, 85, died peacefully at her home on 10 Colby St., Auburn, on Friday, March 17, after a brief illness.
She was born July 19, 1920, in Prentis, the daughter of Melinda and Henry Stanley. While living at Pineland Center in Pownal, she enjoyed working in the kitchen, but she loved working with the babies and young children who lived there too. Some of her fondest memories are of the children who were always drawn to her and spent time with her throughout her life.
She was an unforgettable loving woman who just loved life itself! She was a faithful woman attending East Auburn Baptist Church every Sunday for the past two-plus years. She loved going to the Twarog Center every day to see all her friends. She also enjoyed listening to music, the CMT channel, sewing, knitting, quilting, dancing, embroidering, braiding rugs, “fancy work” making puzzles and letter writing. She always looked forward to her visits and shopping trips with her best friend, David.
Survivors include two sisters, Hattie Clark of Portland and Linda Randall of Augusta; many nieces, nephews, great- and great-great-nieces and nephews; her very special friends, Diane Clukey and David Wilbur; also her friends and staff at John F. Murphy Homes, Inc. and the W.T. Twarog Center both in Auburn.
She was predeceased by her parents; and her twin brothers, Fay and Jay Stanley.
