TEMPLE – Daniel Dubay of Temple was promoted to staff sergeant, Maine Army National Guard. He is serving as a squad leader for Co. A, 133rd Engineer Battalion, specializing in vertical engineering construction.

Dubay has played a significant role in the success of the 133rd Engineer Battalion in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, participating in school and municipal construction in the Kurdish area of Northern Iraq.

He also was involved with relief operations for Hurricanes Katrina and Rita in the Gulf Coast region. Dubay led reconstruction activities of Independence Elementary School, Louisiana.

The 133rd Engineer Battalion is a combat heavy engineer unit that is similar to a large construction company capable of completing large scale horizontal and vertical projects. In 2005, the unit returned from Iraq after being recognized by the Department of Defense and the Iraqi Government for superior performance in Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Dubay and his family reside in Temple.
