CANTON – Theodore L. Burgoyne, 83, of Livermore Falls, passed peacefully on March 21, at the Victorian Villa Nursing Home where he had lived for one month.

He was born in Howland, April 22, 1922, the third son of Louis John and Jennie May Burgoyne.

He attended Howland public schools, the University of Maine at Orono, and received a bachelor of music education from Northern Conservatory of Music in Bangor. Later, he went on to receive a master in music performance and a master in library science at UMO.

Mr. Burgoyne taught music for 35 years, teaching in several locations in Maine, most recently in Wiscasset where he retired in 1979.

A well-known pianist/organist and vocalist, he performed and served as choir director and accompanist for several churches throughout the state, and the most recent being St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Jay.

He as a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus in Jay.

He is survived by his sister, Margaret A. Emery of Livermore Falls; several nieces and nephews including, Don Emery and his wife, Brenda Madden, Eric McDonald and husband, James, of New Hampshire, Amber Shumate and husband, Dwayne, of Michigan, as well as several from northern Maine, including Georgia Hallett and husband, Fred of Howland.

He was predeceased by two brothers, Stanley R. Burgoyne and his wife, Verna, and Walter R. Burgoyne; and a sister, Dorothy E. Burgoyne.
