PARIS – The Oxford Hills Middle School Wellness Day on March 3 was a success for more than 500 young people.

The day kicked off with a presentation from the Center of the Prevention of Hate Crimes about respectful language and how “hate language” can be harmful and lead to violence.

Students were given the opportunity to take part in a number of workshops, all focused on healthy choices for life. They included topics from yoga and dance, to nutrition, eating healthy, drumming and self-expression in the arts. The school was given the opportunity to see a one-woman play called “The Thin Line” on healthy perspectives, control in life and eating disorders.

Teachers and counselors were available all day to teach and advise students. The day closed with a presentation from a recent high school graduate on going after goals and getting involved in the community.
