NORWAY – The Oxford Hills Music & Performing Arts Association will hold auditions for its next show, “tick, tick… BOOM!” at 6:30 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, March 27 and 28, at Guy E. Rowe School. Auditions will consist of a cold read and singing. People should come with a prepared song and accompanying sheet music, pop/rock style preferred.
“Tick, tick… BOOM!” is a musical look at the courage it takes to follow one’s dreams. It is playwright Jonathan Larson’s autobiographical tale of a young composer on the brink of turning 30 and falling into oblivion. His girlfriend wants to get married and move out of the city (tick,); his best friend is making big bucks on Madison Avenue (tick…); yet Jon is still waiting on tables and trying to write the great American musical (BOOM!). “Tick, tick… BOOM!” is a rock musical featuring 14 songs, 10 characters, three actors.
Casting for two men and 1 woman:
Jon: (tenor) age 30: Jonathan Larson, a promising young composer.
Michael: (baritone) age 30: Larson’s roommate, and his oldest and dearest friend.
Susan: (soprano or mezzo) age 30: Larson’s girlfriend of two years. She is a dancer, but supports herself by teaching ballet to wealthy untalented children.
