FARMINGTON – For the second year in a row, United Kingfield Bank has given the Arts Institute of Western Maine a donation to help the institute carry on its activities in Franklin County, sponsoring concerts from Celtic to classical, from jazz to dance to folk recitals.

Ellen Curtiss of United Kingfield Bank presented a check to David Scribner of the Arts Institute on March 6.

Curtiss, speaking for United Kingfield Bank, said she was pleased that the bank could play a significant role in bringing outstanding artists to Farmington and in knowing that the institute keeps its admission prices reasonable, making it possible for many local folks to enjoy quality performances.

Scribner noted that performing arts organizations, from the major orchestras in the big cities down to the local community arts groups, such as the Arts Institute, need contributions from businesses and individuals to survive.

He said, “Just as much, communities need the performing arts to survive. United Kingfield Bank’s extraordinary gift is a wonderful example of how a business can truly enhance the quality of life in a community.”
