My great-nephew, Corey Dan, was killed in Iraq on March 13. I have heard some people make comments such as, “He volunteered to go there.”

I think it’s a disgrace to this country and everyone serving to make an unthinking comment like that.

When I served, I volunteered, but I, and many others, would have been drafted – and a lot were drafted, even people in their 40s. Some couldn’t even read.

If it were not for the volunteers, there would be another draft. I, for one, would love to see that. It would clean out some very lazy people. Let them see what the real world is like. Take those men, as old as 50, and draft them.

I think some of those people do not have a clue about how our freedom is earned. They just sit back and run their mouths.
