This is in response to the letter from John R. Newman (March 1) titled “Democrats jeopardize U.S.”

Newman needs to read his history again, because he would realize that World Wars I and II were fought and won during Democratic administrations, whereas the police-action type wars such as Korea and Vietnam, which ended with cease-fire orders, were during Republican administrations. The adage that Democrats can’t fight is dispelled.

Also, as current history has proven, there were no traditional weapons of mass destruction found in Iraq. The only war this country should be fighting is the one in Afghanistan where there was support of the entire world.
