LEWISTON – Roger B. Nadeau, 78, of Central Avenue, passed away Friday, March 24, at St. Mary’s Hospital.

He was born in Lewiston on Oct. 6, 1927, the son of Archille and Rose Anna Turgeon Nadeau. He was the 18th of 19 children. He graduated from St. Dominic’s High School in 1946.

He married Lucille Rivard on Nov. 11, 1950.

During the ’50s, he worked in television sales and service, and for five years, he operated his own business. He always enjoyed electronics and later worked at W.T. Grant as appliance department manager until its closing. He retired in 1989 from Pineland Lumber Co. as credit manager for more than 12 years.

He was a communicant of Holy Family Church.

Roger was a do-it-yourselfer, working around the house, and took pride in being able to fix anything or take on any project, a talent which he eagerly passed on to his children who are grateful for the life lessons that he taught them. One of his sons’ fondest memories was when he stayed home from school to help his father lay floor tile.

He enjoyed sports and always had a crossword puzzle at hand. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family who all benefited from his keen sense of humor. He was always ready with a joke and funny remark or humorous expression. He was a kindhearted man, accepting of others and always willing to help those in need.

He leaves his wife of 55 years, Lucille, of Lewiston; one daughter, Diane Harvey and husband, Earle, of Yarmouth; three sons, Richard Nadeau of Durham, Daniel Nadeau of Lewiston, and Gerald Nadeau of North Yarmouth; four grandchildren, Lorene, Marie and husband, Craig Grabowski, and Christopher and Stephen Nadeau; a great-granddaughter, Adrianne Grabowski; a step-granddaughter, Kindra (Harvey) and her husband, Mark Espeaignette, and a step-great-granddaughter, Heather; his brother, Robert Nadeau of Lewiston; his sister, Helen Simonetti of Lewiston; and many nieces and nephews.
