GREENE – William Frye White II, of Greene, passed away suddenly in Greene on Friday, March 24.

He was born in Boston on Aug. 22, 1919, the son of Thomas C. and Martha H. Pratt White Sr.

He owned and operated an insurance agency for four decades, a White-family owned business of 75 years in the Lewiston-Auburn area, and always enjoyed meeting and working with people.

He was a member of the United Commercial Travelers and Rotary service clubs. He served on the board of directors of Androscoggin Savings Bank. He lived at and was an active member of St. Francis Church in Greene for many years, where he was facility director for RCAM and loved interacting with teen groups.

Bill was an avid golfer, camper and skier. His camping experiences worked well for him as, after selling his insurance agency, he was able to work inspecting campgrounds across Maine. Always eager to keep active, Bill worked for several years for Apria Healthcare delivering medical supplies throughout Maine. He always loved to drive and one of his great accomplishments and joys was driving across country to Calgary, Alberta in his motorhome to visit his son and daughter-in-law at the age of 82.

Bill will be remembered as a person who loved meting people with a smiling face and a warm greeting. He will be missed by his many friends and acquaintances.

He was living at The Meadows Senior Living Center in Greene at the time of his death. Despite his short time living there, we are sure he will be missed and we appreciate the attention they gave to his care.

Bill is survived by his son Robert White and daughter-in-law, Anne, of Calgary, Alberta, Canada; son and daughter from a second marriage, Steve White and wife, Michele, of Turner, and Sandra Tibey and husband, Mark, of Arrow Head, Okla.; and eight grandchildren, Josh, Zack, Shane, Kaisha, Cortney, Amy, Ashlee and Phillip.

He is also survived by his wife, Dorothy, and second wife, Doris.

He was predeceased by his son, William F. White III; and brother, Thomas.
