OES to install

LISBON FALLS – Pioneer Chapter 11, Order of the Eastern Star, will hold installation of officers at 7 p.m. Friday, March 31, at the Lisbon Falls Masonic Hall, Route 196. Past Grand Matron Gretchen Brissette and Worthy Grand Patron John Coombs will be the installing officers.

Debra Greim will be installed as worthy matron and Samuel Kelly, grand chaplain, will be installed as worthy patron. Refreshments will be served following the meeting. This is a public installation; anyone interested in learning more about Eastern Star is welcome.

Fellowship

LISBON FALLS – The Lisbon Area Merry Widows Fellowship will meet on Monday, April 3, at the Lisbon United Methodist Church, School Street. The gathering will begin for fellowship at 11:30 a.m. followed at noon with a potluck lunch. All interested widows in the area are invited.

Meeting speaker

AUBURN – Dr. Cynthia DeSoi will speak at a meeting of the Episcopal Church Women at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 4, at St. Michael’s Church, 78 Pleasant St.

She will discuss current events in Haiti and her recent trip to Project Hope, an orphanage in southern Haiti directed by Lewiston native Father Marc Boisvert, OMI. The Episcopal Church Women support the work of the orphanage and sponsor a child, Bebeto.

DeSoi, who serves as the project’s medical director, will give an update on the children and the status of Hope Village, a developing sustainable community for the children of Southern Haiti. All are welcome.

Bridge results

NEW GLOUCESTER – The New Gloucester Bridge Club met March 26 in the Masonic building where a quarterly club championship was played.

Finishing first in Flight A were Martine Begert and Rosemarie Goodwin; second, Carlene and Bill Hewett; third, Bunny Banks and Les Buzzell; Flight B, first, Audrey Burns and Linda Leotsakos; second, Jan and Jim Solley.

There will be no game next week as there is a sectional tournament in Augusta. The next game will be April 9. All bridge players are welcome. A partner is guaranteed. For more information, call Les Buzzell at 783-4153.
