Thrift shop opens

JAY – The North Jay Methodist Thrift Shop will open for the summer from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Friday, March 31, and Saturday, April 1.

The North Jay United Methodist Women will hold a food sale from 8:30 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, April 8, at the thrift shop to raise funds for missions. Doughnuts, coffee, lunch items, pies, cakes and muffins will be available.

Musical program

SALEM – A&E Hill Country Music will return to the Salem Community Building at 1 p.m. Sunday, April 2. It features bluegrass and country music. A donation box will be at the door and refreshments will be on sale. This event is sponsored by the Salem Pine Tree Club.

Dances held

CHESTERVILLE – Dances are held at 8 p.m. on the first and third Saturdays of the month at Harnden’s Hall, Route 156, North Chesterville. Waltzes, fox-trots, polkas, schottisches and contras are included along with lessons provided for those who wish to learn. The next dance will be Saturday, April 1. Donations are accepted. Benefit supper

NEW SHARON – A benefit supper for the Bissonnette family who recently lost their home to fire will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Friday, March 31, at Cape Cod Hill School gym. Cost is $5 a person and $20 a family. The event is sponsored by the Cape Cod Hill School.

Clothes give-away

JAY – Free clothing will be given away from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday, April 3 to 6, at the Jay Seventh-Day Adventist Church, Route 4. For more information, call 645-3039.

Story times

WILTON – Story times at the Wilton Free Public Library include an infant/toddler time at 10:15 a.m. Tuesdays followed by a preschool story time at 11 a.m. The Tuesday programs will be offered through April.

An elementary story time will be offered at 6 p.m. Thursdays from April 6 to May 11. For more information, call the library at 645-4831.

Meal take-out

NEW SHARON – A family baked bean take-out meal will be offered from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 1, at the New Sharon Congregational United Church of Christ, Cape Cod Hill Road.

The meal includes a quart of baked beans, a pint of coleslaw, yeast rolls or brown bread and a family size homemade pie for $12. To reserve meals, call Mary at 778-2366.

Club to meet

SALEM – The Salem ATV Club, Mt. Abram Trail Riders, will meet at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 2, at Mt. Abram High School library. The public is invited.
