WILTON – George Mosher Jr., 80, of Wilton, died unexpectedly, Sunday, March 26, at his home.

He was born, Dec. 26, 1925, a son of George and Beatrice (Bump) Sr.

A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he served during World War II and the Korean War.

He was very active in the town of Wilton over the years having been a charter member of the Wilton Fire Department, helping with the development of the Wilton Ambulance Service, Civil Defense, dispatcher and former selectman.

He belonged to the Wilton American Legion, Frank L. Mitchell VFW Post and AMVETS in Jay.

He was also proud to trace his lineage to Tom Thumb.

He is survived by grandsons, Stuart Allen and his wife, Juanita and Russell Allen; niece, Barbara Hand and her husband, Larry and their son, Marc, who helped as his caretakers; sisters-in-law, Connie Bedard and her husband, Alec, Helen Parker and Lorna Cook and her husband, Bob; brother-in-law, Dwaine Poulin and his wife, Leanne; special nephew, Jamin Pullen.

He was predeceased by his wife, Shirley Poulin in December 2000, whom he married over 60 years ago.
