LEWISTON – The mayor and city council have appointed three new members to the Downtown Advisory Board

Eric Agren, Allen Sterling and Marcel Blais have joined the 15-member board whose mission is to facilitate economic development in downtown Lewiston through the implementation of the Downtown Master Plan. Members are appointed for three-year terms.

“I believe that downtown Lewiston has incredible potential for growth,” Agren said in a prepared statement. “The city has done a great job with first-rate infrastructure, and the history and architecture are fantastic.”

Agren is the national director of sales for Jade Products, a division of Maytag. Already demonstrating his commitment to the downtown, Agren and his wife, Carrie, recently bought property at 43 and 49 Lisbon St., known as Lyceum Hall, and will be converting the site into Fuel and Press, a restaurant/wine bar, with an opening target date of early winter.

Allen Sterling is president/CEO of Auburn Savings Bank, with branches in Auburn and Lewiston. During his career, Sterling has been involved in downtown development-related loans in Lewiston-Auburn totaling more than $10 million.

Marcel Blais is the chief operating officer for Northeast Bank, one of the pioneering companies in the redevelopment of Lewiston’s revitalized Southern Gateway. With 28-plus years in banking, Blais has been with Northeast Bank for eight years, formerly as senior vice president of retail banking. He has primary responsibility for the bank’s customer operations.
