AUBURN – Dorothy Ellen Gagnon, 67, passed away on Monday, March 27, after a long illness, with her loving family at her side, at the Auburn Hospice House.
She was born on Dec. 7, 1938, in Auburn, a daughter of the late George Omar and Vilda (Coffin) Cothran.
She attended Auburn schools, and later went on to work for General Electric; she was there for more than 26 years, until her retirement in 1996. She had a great work ethic, she was hard-working and dedicated, traits she shared with her husband, Maurice Gagnon, whom she married on March 7, 1959, and they shared 38 wonderful years of marriage until he predeceased her in February 1998.
She greatly enjoyed taking walks, baking and spending time with her family, especially her great-grandchildren. She was a member of the New Hope Bible Church. She had resided the past two years at the Lamp Nursing Home, where she had received great care and love.
She is survived by her three daughters, Linda Morey and husband, Douglas, of Maryland, Tina Nadeau and husband, Norman, of Auburn and Rachael Gagnon of Lewiston; her granddaughter, Christina Packard of Lisbon Falls, two great-grandchildren, Morgan and Lilly Jeffords; five sisters, Marie Blouin, Ann Gagne, Doreen Cothran, Linda Lawler, and Judy Hewitt; one brother, George Cothran of Auburn; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents; her beloved husband; and a brother, Omar Cothran.
A special thank you and appreciation from Dorothy’s family is extended to The Lamp Nursing Home and the Auburn Hospice House for the love and care that was given to Dorothy and her family, and to the co-workers of Rachael at d’Youville on 2-West for their love and support.
