LEWISTON – John T.C. Strout, 78, of Bolster Heights Health Care Facility, Auburn and formerly of Bangor died Monday, March 27, at Central Maine Medical Center.
He was born in Bangor on Feb. 19, 1928, the son of George and Maud (Carter) Strout. He had been a resident of Bangor for most of his life.
He was a U.S. Army veteran obtaining the rank of corporal and had served during the Korean Conflict.
He worked for many years as a chef’s helper at Pilot’s Grill in Bangor.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 153 in Auburn, the Korean War Association in Bangor, and was a volunteer for the Salvation Army.
He is survived by his wife, Elinor (Gott) (Richardson) Strout of Orono whom he married on July 17, 1993; a daughter, Jane Lewis; two grandsons, Gene Strout and James Wells; his special niece, Ruthie Strout-Vinueza of New York; and by other nieces and a nephew.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Frances Strout; two brothers, Donald and Billy Strout; and two sisters, Nellie Strout and Bertha Gorga.
