AUBURN – The Auburn-Lewiston YMCA has announced that its new program targeting families in the community, Prime Time, is off to a successful start.

The program, which offers a variety of activities for children and their parents, began last month. Some of the ongoing activities the YMCA offers during Prime Time are designated open gym and swim times, family yoga classes and movement with music. Prime Time is available from 8:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday and 3:45 to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday.

“Our focus is to get families in here together,” said Prime Time coordinator Sigrid Houlette. “Mom can take an exercise class while the children take lessons and dad is in the weight room or they can all go swimming together. This program has been found to be extremely successful in other YMCAs across the state and country and we have found the same here.”

Doug McFarland, YMCA health and fitness director, said, “We recognize that the time families spend together is precious. We’re here to offer families a place to get together in a safe and healthy environment. It is great to see families using our facility together. We have had several families join the Y since we introduced Prime Time.”
