RUMFORD – Municipal leaders from area towns met with River Valley Growth Council officials Wednesday afternoon to brainstorm ideas to better regionalize goods and services.

Council Executive Director Rosie Bradley started the discussion, noting that the council could help the towns by brokering bulk purchases and hiring people to freelance code enforcement and assessing needs.

Several thought they were good ideas.

Rumford Town Manager Stephen Eldridge highlighted the need for such positions while speaking about looming growth and the difficulties of finding certified people willing to work part-time.

Eldridge asked if the council could hire a full-time grant writer to help towns find money because leaders are too busy running municipal affairs and working on budgets.
