BOSTON – Rosanne Labree Coursen, 58, a resident of Belmont, Mass., died Tuesday, March 14, at Brigham & Women’s Hospital after a short illness.
She was born Jan. 6, 1948, in Lewiston, a daughter of Carroll and Evelyn Labree. She graduated from Lisbon High School and the University of Maine at Orono.
After college, she was an intern at Harvard Medical School’s Countway Library and received her master’s degree in library science from Simmons College. In 1984, she became director of the McLean Hospital Library. During her tenure, she successfully merged the Medical Library, the Mailman Research Center Library and the Nursing Library into one collection. She worked with the architectural firm of Shepley Bulfinch Richardson & Abbott designing and creating the current McLean Mental Health Sciences Library.
She was an active member of All Saints’ Church in Belmont, she was a longtime Girl Scout leader and an active member of the Belmont community. She greatly enjoyed traveling, visiting numerous countries around the world. She loved the Maine coast and spent time here every summer. She cared greatly about everyone she met. She was an extraordinary person who will be missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband, Richard and daughter, Catherine of Belmont, Mass.; her parents, Carroll and Evelyn Labree of Lisbon; and two sisters, Sallyann Labree of Monmouth and Suzanne Labree Poliquin and her husband, Gerard of Lisbon.
