Legion meeting

RUMFORD – Rumford American Legion 24 and Auxiliary will meet on Sunday, April 2, at the post home, Congress Street. Lunch will be served at 5 p.m. with meetings to follow. The Auxiliary will nominate a new slate of officers for the 2006-2007 year. Auxiliary members are reminded to bring items for the food pantry.

RUMFORD – Men and women of the class of 1952 of Stephens High School will meet at 11:30 a.m. Monday, April 3, at the River Valley Grill, Exchange Street. For reservations, call Barbara at 364-3470.

MEXICO – Members of Mexico High School, Class of 1959 are invited to meet at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 4, for lunch at Dick’s Restaurant.

Women to meet

RUMFORD – Stephens High School Class of 1944 women will meet for lunch at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, April 6, at the House of Pizza, Congress Street.

Silent auction

CANTON – A Chinese/silent auction will be held Saturday, April 8, at the municipal building. Doors will open at 4 p.m. and the auction will begin at 6.

There will be a 50/50 raffle, baked goods, hot dogs, chili, chips and desserts. It is being sponsored by the Canton Cruiser’s Relay For Life Team. For more information, call the town office at 597-2920.

Fish, fir sale

OXFORD – Oxford County Soil and Water Conservation District’s tree sale deadline was March 24, but there is still time to order fish for a farm pond or conifers only. The deadline to order conifers is April 21 and the deadline for fish is May 8.

The conifers include balsam fir, Fraser fir, Norway spruce, Colorado blue spruce, white spruce, white pine and American arborvitae.
